Overview

This three-day escape from Istanbul pairs Turkey's modern capital with its most surreal landscape. After an early flight to Ankara, your guide leads you through the Mausoleum of Ataturk and the outstanding Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, where Palaeolithic, Neolithic, Hittite and Phrygian Urartu treasures tell the story of central Anatolia. An intercity coach then carries you on to Goreme and your cave hotel.

Two full guided days follow. North Cappadocia takes in Devrent Valley's fairy chimneys, the mushroom pinnacles of Pasabag, the pottery town of Avanos, Zelve Open Air Museum and the natural castle of Uchisar. South Cappadocia brings a 5 km hike through Rose Valley, Cavusin Village, Pigeon Valley and an underground city carved by early Christians.

Ideal for travellers short on time who want history, scenery and comfort without self-organising flights, coaches or hotels. An optional sunrise hot air balloon flight can be added at extra cost.
