3-Day Ancient Turkey Tour: Pamukkale, Ephesus, Troy & Gallipoli

Day 1: Flight from Istanbul to Denizli, Pamukkale and Hierapolis

Fly from Istanbul to Denizli in the early morning. On arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to Pamukkale to join your guide. Begin at Karahayit, known for its warm red spring waters, before continuing to the ancient city of Hierapolis.

Explore the highlights of Hierapolis, including the Necropolis, Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinious Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium and the ancient Theatre. You will have free time to enjoy the white terraces of Pamukkale and may swim in Cleopatra’s Ancient Pool at your own expense. Later, walk barefoot down the Pamukkale Travertines, then have lunch and visit an Onyx Factory before travelling to Kusadasi for the night.

Day 2: Ephesus Tour and Coach to Canakkale

After breakfast, set out for a full-day visit to Ephesus, one of the most important Greek and Roman cities of the ancient world. Walk along its marble streets and see major landmarks including the Temple of Hadrian, Great Theatre and Trajan Fountain.

After lunch, continue to the House of the Virgin Mary, traditionally believed to be where Mary spent her final years. You will also pass by the remains of the Temple of Artemis, once one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and visit Isa Bey Mosque, a fine example of early Anatolian Turkish architecture. Return to Kusadasi, then travel by public coach to Canakkale. The journey includes scheduled comfort breaks, and you will be met at the bus station and transferred to your hotel on arrival.

Day 3: Troy and Gallipoli Tour, Return to Istanbul

After breakfast and check-out, begin with a guided tour of Troy. See the Trojan Horse, Sacrificial Altars, the 3,700-year-old City Walls, Houses of Troy I, the Bouleuterion, Odeon, and remains representing the successive settlements from Troy I to Troy IX. Continue to Eceabat for lunch before the afternoon Gallipoli tour.

Visit Brighton Beach, Beach Cemetery at the southern end of ANZAC Cove, Ariburnu Cemetery and the ANZAC Commemoration Site. Continue to the Lone Pine Australian Memorial, Johnston’s Jolly, where original Allied and Turkish trenches and tunnels can still be seen, the 57th Regiment Turkish Memorial, The Nek and the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial. At the end of the tour, travel back to Istanbul and be dropped at your hotel.
