2-Day Gallipoli & Troy Tour from Istanbul
Overview
Day one takes you by air-conditioned coach down the Gelibolu peninsula, with lunch at Eceabat before your licensed guide leads you across the ground in roughly the order the fighting unfolded. You'll walk Brighton Beach and Beach Cemetery, stand on the shingle at ANZAC Cove, visit Ariburnu Cemetery and the ANZAC Commemorative Site, then climb to Lone Pine, Johnston's Jolly, the Turkish 57th Infantry Regiment Cemetery, The Nek and Chunuk Bair.
After a night in a 3-star hotel in Canakkale, day two crosses to Troy for around two hours on site — the wooden Trojan Horse, the Sacrificial Altars, the ancient walls, the Bouleuterion and Odeon, and the layered remains of nine cities.

Day 1: Gallipoli Battlefields
At 06:00, we pick you up from your hotel or hostel in the Taksim area; travellers staying around Sultanahmet have a separate pickup at 06:30. The air-conditioned coach then heads west out of the city and down the Gelibolu peninsula. After the long but comfortable drive, you arrive in Eceabat at around 12:20, with lunch before the guided tour.
Your guide follows the fighting’s course roughly in the order it unfolded. Walk Brighton Beach and the quiet Beach Cemetery, then stand on the shingle at ANZAC Cove. Continue to Ariburnu Cemetery and the ANZAC Commemorative Site, before heading up onto the ridges to Respect to Mehmetcik Statue and Lone Pine Australian Memorial. At Johnston’s Jolly, you can still see Turkish and Allied trenches and tunnels only metres apart. The route then takes you to Turkish 57th Infantry Regiment Cemetery, the small ground at The Nek, and finally the high point at Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial.
After the tour, we take you across to Canakkale and check you into your hotel for the night.

Day 2: Troy and Istanbul
08:30 – After breakfast at the hotel, your guide meets you for the half-day tour of ancient Troy, a short crossing from Canakkale. You’ll start beside the wooden Trojan Horse, then move through the Sacrificial Altars and along the 3,700-year-old city walls. Your guide walks you past the earliest Houses of Troy I (3000–2500 B.C.), the Bouleuterion where the council once met, and the Odeon concert hall. You’ll also see the current excavations still underway and the layered remains of the nine cities, from Troy I through to Troy IX. Allow around two hours on site.
11:45 – Your drop-off is in the centre of Canakkale, leaving free time to eat and wander at your own pace. For the return, your guide will tell you exactly where and when to meet in Eceabat. The coach departs for Istanbul at roughly 18:00 and arrives back at about 23:00, with drop-off at your hotel.

Troy was the part I enjoyed most, especially seeing the layers of the old city and then having time for the museum. The guide explained the history clearly without making it feel like a lecture. Gallipoli was very moving too, and I appreciated the calm pace at the memorials. It is a long road from Istanbul, so be ready for some hours in the van, but the stops helped. The hotel was simple and clean. For someone who likes archaeology and history, this 2-day Turkey tour was very worthwhile.
