Troy and Gallipoli Day Trip from Istanbul

Your driver collects you from your Istanbul hotel in the early hours and settles you into a private, air-conditioned car for the run west to Canakkale. It’s a long stretch of road, so make yourself comfortable — and if you need a break for coffee or a bite along the way, just say the word and the driver will pull over. On arrival you’re met by your private English-speaking guide, ready to walk you around Troy. You’ll see the wooden Trojan Horse, the Sacrificial Altars and the City Walls that have stood for some 3,700 years, along with the earliest Houses of Troy I dating back to 3000 B.C. From there the guide takes you through the Bouleuterion (the old Senate building) and the Odeon concert hall, tracing the layered remains of the successive cities from Troy I right through to Troy IX.

Once the Troy visit wraps up in the late morning, you’re driven across to Eceabat, where you’ll have some free time before lunch at a local restaurant in town. Because this is a private tour, there’s no rush — you set the pace at every stop.

After lunch the Gallipoli half of the day begins. You’ll take in Brighton Beach, the Beach Cemetery and Ariburnu Cemetery, then the Anzac Commemoration Site before climbing to the Lone Pine Monument, the main Australian memorial. From there it’s on to Johnston’s Jolly, the 57th Regiment Turkish Memorial, The Nek and finally the Chunuk Bair New Zealand Memorial high on the ridge. In the evening you set off back to Istanbul, arriving late and returning to your hotel. If you’d like to stop for dinner en route, that’s easily arranged at your own cost.
